Transient logic tag

Asks to exchange file data with another application.

Sample usage

<requestTransfer instance=doc.& mode={w} format={txt:Text file} description={Save notes} {notes.txt}> asks the user to choose an application to save notes.txt to, using the transfer tag doc for the connection.

Fields

Primary field

Scalar field

A suggested name for the file. The other application may use it or choose its own.

Secondary fields

instance: (required) a reference pointer to the transfer tag instance that will represent the connection.
mode: the access modes needed, with the required mode first. See transferAbility.
format: the file formats this program can work with. See format.
description: a description of what the program wants to do, which may be shown to the user.

Behaviour

The request is passed to the framing manager, which asks the user to choose an application offering a matching transferAbility. If the other application accepts, the transfer tag instance can then be used to open the connection and exchange data.

Without an instance field, the request fails with the error <requestTransfer> requires instance=....

Notes

File transfer between applications is still being developed in ioL version 1.05, and parts of it may not work yet.
